Chris did not have anyone on his side but his five year old son. In the New York Times article, Manohila Dargis states how “It’s the early 1980s, and while Ronald Reagan is delivering the bad economic news on television, Chris is about to prove you don’t need an army to fight the war on poverty, just big smiles and smarts, and really sturdy shoes”. The movie ends up revealing that Chris Gardner eventually becomes a multimillion dollar broker. He fought back his tears and goes to the daycare and picks up his sons and celebrates. Then the manager tells Chris that he should wear a new shirt tomorrow, as in he got a full-time paid position at this job he was at. One of his managers notices that Chris is wearing a new shirt and Chris said he wanted to dress nice because it was his last day. Moving forward, one of Chris’ managers, from his unpaid internship, wanted to speak to him on his last day. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. All right? You got a dream? You gotta protect it. Don’t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t do something. All of sudden, Chris has a change in his mind. He tells his son that do not dream about becoming a NBA player because these type of dreams will not come true and tells him do not play much basketball. Living a busy life, Chris find some free time throughout the day and decides to play basketball with his son. Chris struggles so much but still does everything to make sure him and his kid have a bed to sleep on every night. ![]() Chris seeing his kid reminded him to succeed everyday and do whatever it is to get financially stable.Ĭhris ends up finding a place to work but does not get paid because it is an unpaid internship. Seeing his kid gave him motivation, he had to care for his kid, feed his kid and give his kid everything he possibly can. Motivation to get out of his horrible situation. After all of this, it gives Chris motivation. Chris was so jobless to the point where his wife left him. He ends up living in a homeless shelter with his kid. In the movie, Chris Gardner is played by Will Smith, who has lost everything due to a financial situation. Happiness is something you have inside you, it is an inner quality. ![]() It also demonstrates examples of Chris Gardner’s life and shows how everyone has the ability to accomplish their own way of happiness. The movie, The Pursuit of Happyness shows the answer to these questions. People wonder on what this quote means and what the meaning is behind it. Natural caves and smaller shelters in India very often contain prehistoric paintings. ![]() A short history of Indian cave painting Prehistoric times But knowing the distinguished and extraordinary achievements in other arts, we can expect values of world importance also from Indian painting. Painting is just one of the dimensions of Indian culture. The cultural heritage of India can be compared with the stars in the sky – everyone can look at it but no one is able to grasp the true extension of it. Since the beginning of historical times (approximately the 3rd century BC) India experienced several periods of extreme flourishing and diversity of culture. A large area of India and the diversity of cultures promise diversity in artistic styles as well. A shade of deep cave and skillful protection from seeping water provide ideal protection from elements. It is estimated that there are more than 1,500 individual rock-cut caves in India and there still are discovered new ones.īasalt, diorite, granite is widespread in Deccan Plateau – these rocks can be tough and time resistant, thus providing an ideal basis for paintings. The geology of the Deccan Plateau and some more regions of India provides enough cliff faces and domes perfectly suitable to create rock-cut architecture. India is extremely rich with ancient rock-cut cave temples – no other region in the world can compete with India in this respect. In this respect, each rock painting resembles a keyhole through which we see the abundant and vital life of our ancestors. Due to this the paintings in caves, on natural rock face provide the only possibility to see the ancient paintings (another, less convenient possibility is provided by ceramics). Due to this today we have very few examples of ancient painting – although many indications show that painting has been a very popular and well-developed form of art for many thousands of years.Ĭaves and rock-cut structures sometimes provide suitable conditions for paintings to survive – paintings here survive not just centuries but even tens of thousands of years. It disappears together with its base – paper, fabric, wood, plaster, and even walls of stone masonry buildings. There have been preserved rather many ancient paintings in India – in spite of the fact that painting is comparatively short-lived and fragile art. …Obviously, this wasn’t going to fly with the Christians.Scene of Samava-sarvana, Sittanavasal / Yorck Project, public domain Cats were also mainly associated with the feminine. The video went on to explain, “Before Christianity was widespread in Europe, cats were well-loved by the ancient Greeks Romans and Egyptians and were often considered divine in their respective religions. It’s the Catholic Church.” Photo: YouTube/Cheddar Interestingly enough, the cause of this level of influence on artists of the time was actually religion!Īs one video by Cheddar explains, “It wasn’t actually bad artists that turned cats into tiny little gremlins. In fact, it makes cats as a whole look like really scary, ugly creatures. While we know cats to be cute and painfully adorable fur balls, the depictions of them in Medieval art are anything but flattering. They’re a prime example of being done dirty by an artist. Unfortunately, not all artistic expressions were flattering for those who were painted into a picture. So yeah, if you want to be remembered, have a creative person fall in love with you. Poets and writers immortalized the loves of their lives on the pages of their works, artists painted their loves onto canvases, and musicians penned love songs that we still sing along to, to this day. Whether tragically unrequited or happily ever after, many greats throughout history have created a way through which a person can be remembered forever. They lived on in the works of their creative partners. If you look at history, those who’ve been loved by creatively inclined people never truly died. But while we wait for the discovery of the so-called fountain of youth, there is still one surefire way to be immortal: get a creative person to create something in your likeness. Human beings are still working on the technology that will make us live forever. ![]() Yet restraint conjures the eloquent beauty of the album in the delicate "Porcelain," operatic trill of "Sleep," and understated sway of "My Majesty of Madness." This captivating piece pays tribute to the legendary bird of prey, whose populations are again rising as their ecosystems are increasingly restored. Soaring swells broil throughout the set, slowly developed opener "Pink Stallion" exploding from a plucked violin through raucous choral yelps, crescendoed strings, and an unexpected drop into a measure of jazz rhythms. But there was no frenzy then, no White House petitions for Avery's release. An episode in 2006 was even one of the first in-depth looks at the Avery case outside Wisconsin. (And I do mean immediate: Many viewers binged all 10-plus hours of the series in days, if not one sleepless night.) It proved to be the most popular holiday release not named Star Wars, immediately spurring a digital cottage industry of amateur sleuths determined to discover if Avery really is a killer. If you don't know what happens next, well, where have you been for the past month? A week before Christmas, Netflix quietly offered up the 10-part Making a Murderer documentary series, an exhaustive examination of what the filmmakers present as a case of police corruption against the accused. This is the release that’s designed to be used as a regular desktop. The main ArcoLinux release comes with three desktop environments, is chock full of productivity apps and is designed for the average desktop user. The project hosts a string of such customized ISOs as contributed by its community. Then there’s ArcoLinuxB that enables you to modify the stock ArcoLinux ISO and build your own custom image. There’s the minimalist ArcoLinuxD release, which ships with just enough components to help you build your own custom ArcoLinux installation. The ArcoLinux learning process has been broken into six phases, and the various ArcoLinux distributions are part of those phrases. To that end the project produces not one but several distros. Unlike other Arch-based projects, ArcoLinux is pitched as a learning platform that hopes to transform new users into Arch masters. But for what it’s worth it does have very easy-to-digest information on using the command-line-based package management systems. The distro’s only failing for the time being at least is that it lacks a graphical package manager. ![]() One of the distro’s best features is the welcome application that has links to documentation, and several crucial post-installation tasks including the ability to add popular apps such as LibreOffice, and the akm kernel manager to switch kernels. However, the intention of the developers is to give you a usable base that you can flesh out as per your requirements. In terms of apps, EndeavourOS ships with many of the desktop essentials. If you use Nvidia hardware you’ll appreciate the efforts put in by the developers to help you enjoy your graphics hardware. If Xfce doesn’t work for you, use the online installer that lets you choose between the Gnome, KDE, Deepin, Budgie, Cinnamon, Mate, LXQT, i3 desktops. There’s the offline installer, which as the name suggests doesn’t need an active connection to the Internet and installs a customized Xfce desktop environment. In its bid to cater to a vast number of users with different use cases, the distro ships two flavors of the distribution-agnostic Calamares installer. Another plus are the project’s custom tools, especially the Manjaro Hardware Detection tool (MHWD) that you can use to install the correct drivers for all attached devices.Īll things considered, with its bundled apps and custom tools, Manjaro is a ready-to-use desktop distro that scores highly in both form and function, and is currently one of the most popular Linux distros overall.Ĭonsidered by many as the spiritual successor to the once-popular-now-disbanded Antergos project, EndeavourOS is the newest distro in our list. Manjaro also supports both Flatpaks and Snaps and you can install apps from their respective repos using Pamac. ![]() You can pull in additional apps using the intuitive Pamac package manager, which can grab apps from Manjaro’s official repositories, as well as the Arch User Repository (AUR). Manjaro includes all the usual mainstream popular apps such as the LibreOffice suite, GIMP, VLC, Firefox, Thunderbird, Steam client, and more. The installer gives you the option to choose between LibreOffice and FreeOffice as the default office suite, if you want to install one. Unlike Arch, Manjaro uses a customised Calamares installer, which makes it fairly easy to anchor the distro to your computer. Besides the 64-bit ISOs, you can also download images for dozens of ARM-based devices such as the Raspberry Pi 4, Pinebook, and the Pinebook Pro. Manjaro is available in three officially supported flavors (Gnome, KDE Plasma, and Xfce) and over half a dozen community-supported ones. ![]() The best part, by far though–is that it’s made with a special fabric (called SILVERESCENT® TECHNOLOGY if you want to get really technical) that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the garment–so, you know what that means… YES.
